A pendant centred on a hexagonal Colombian emerald carved with a delicate poppy spray - a motif favoured by Mughal lapidaries since the reign of Shah Jahan. The bezel is articulated in kundan setting, with foiled rose-cut diamonds forming a serrated halo, and the reverse polychrome enamelled in basse-taille technique with iris and tulip blossoms.
A small loop above the crown indicates use as a sarpech ornament.
